"Winter Mustard Flower Bloom at a Vineyard in Stag's Leap District AVA, Napa Valley, California
With every winter comes a brief window of time when the green vineyards come alive with yellow mustard flower blooms. The purpose of growing mustard flowers is to help generate nutrients and fertilize the soil for wine growing season. Wild mustard is not native to the United States however as it was introduced inadvertently by Russian settlers to California in the early 1800's. Wine growers initially did not realize the benefits to growing mustard and sought to have it removed. With modern science that theory no longer holds up and vineyards readily embrace this enchanting yellow flower."
